Craig Walker of the Denver Post took what may be the best photo of the year, as he covered the Colorado legislature's rejection of a civil-unions bill for us queers.
Caption: "Bill Roach, left, of Castle Rock waits to speak against the civil-unions bill Thursday at the statehouse while Daneya Esgar, right, talks with her partner, Heather Palm, during testimony at the House Judiciary Committee hearing on the measure."
Dear Bill Roach of Castle Rock:
If you don't like seeing a girl touch her partner's leg, don't look.
As a citizen of Colorado and a voter, I'm appalled that this bill didn't make it out of committee, especially when the most recent General Social Survey results show that more Americans (including Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper) support same-sex marriage than oppose it.
I resent the fact that the House Judiciary Committee decided to deprive Coloradans of the opportunity to vote on this important topic; I believe they will shortly find they were standing on the wrong side of history (and humanity).
