Water and the West

My dear and talented sister, Sarah Bates, just wrote a long article in the Science Progress blog, titled Restoring the Waters, about the water restoration projects taking place in the west. It looks particularly at the recent removal of the Milltown Dam, near Missoula, MT.

I marvel at the accomplishments of groups like Western Progress, where Sarah works, in changing the culture of Dam the World institutions such as the US Army Corps of Engineers, who in the past never saw a river they didn't want to dam and are now getting used to the idea of restoration and environmental protection.
