CareerBuilder launched this site a while ago; I just learned about it. Called Monk-E-mail, it's actually pretty cool. The gimmick is that you can select one of three talking apes, give the ape a hat, glasses, clothes and a background (a men's bathroom, snowy yard, baseball stadium, etc.) and then the ape reads your email to the recipient. What's cool is that you can send your message in several ways.
- You can record your message and upload it
- You can phone a toll-free number, enter a pass code and record a message
- You can type in a message and it uses text-to-speech software to translate it into spoken words. You can even select which of several voices you want to use to read your message.
Obviously, it's the last approach that I especially like. It does pretty well, all things considered. As viral ad campaigns go, it's pretty good. For an example of what a Monk-E-Mail looks like, click here for a special Monk-E-Mail just for you.
